The stretching and resistance of the hair with each passage of the razor favor micro-cuts which opens the doors to infections. Among the most common are folliculitis of the beard. It is an infection caused by the growth of hair under the skin, which will lead to inflammation. This is manifested by the appearance of small white pimples, surrounded by a red halo.
Folliculitis of the beard particularly affects black and mixed skin types whose curly and hard hairs cannot cross the surface of the epidermis. The hair is then regrown at an angle rather than perpendicular to the skin.
